In September 2025, HoverAid’s Medical Mission Safari team travelled to Marolambo, where they treated 671 patients through surgery, dentistry, ophthalmology, ultrasound, and consultations — including a life-saving caesarean section that ensured both mother and baby survived. The mission was marked by strong collaboration with local hospital staff and brought vital medical care to people who had travelled from far and wide.

From 1st to 5th September 2025, our team travelled to Marolambo for another life-changing Medical Mission Safari (MMS). Getting there is never simple – planes, motorbikes, and a lot of logistics – but when we arrived, the hospital staff and community were ready to welcome us and help us set up.

Even before our team began official consultations, the hospital had already faced a critical emergency: a mother needing a caesarean section. Thanks to the preparation of the local operating team, both mother and baby were saved that day. It was a powerful reminder of why HoverAid exists – to bring medical help where it’s needed most.

Over the course of five days, our doctors, surgeons, and support staff worked side by side with the hospital team, carrying out:

  • Life-saving surgeries including hernias, appendicitis, caesareans, and even a cleft lip repair.
  • Dental care for over 100 patients — so busy that our dentist worked right through the last afternoon with the help of local staff.
  • Eye consultations and glasses for 100 people.
  • 111 ultrasounds, detecting cancers and bladder stones.
  • Hundreds of general consultations, treating everything from high blood pressure to malaria.

A Story: Mother and Baby Saved

One of the most moving moments came when a woman arrived with a transverse pregnancy. Her baby was struggling to survive, and attempts in her village to deliver safely had failed. Without our surgical team, the only option would have been a heartbreaking and dangerous one.

Thankfully the caesarean was successful, and both mother and baby are now safe and healthy.
