We were thrilled to welcome Doreen Mutoni, HoverAidโs Country Director in Madagascar, to the UK this month! ๐ฌ๐ง๐ฒ๐ฌ
Her visit was a wonderful opportunity to connect in person, share stories from the field, and celebrate the incredible impact of HoverAidโs work in Madagascar โ bringing help, hope, and healing to some of the most remote communities on earth.
A week of connection and inspiration
Doreenโs visit was filled with opportunities to connect with the HoverAid family across the UK:
Sunday: A Q&A and โmeet the congregationโ session at All Saints Church, Little Shelford โ one of our long-standing partner churches โ followed by a warm afternoon tea with our Cambridge-based supporters.
Monday: An informal meeting and dinner with HoverAid Trustees, and a visit to the beautiful city of Cambridge and its colleges.
Tuesday: Meetings with the UK leadership and team, sharing updates and strengthening collaboration between our teams.
Wednesday: Our โEvening with HoverAidโ supportersโ event at the IMechE Headquarters in London, where Doreen shared powerful stories from the field and gave insight into our projects in Madagascar.
Thursday: A trip to our HoverAid UK workshop in Sussex, where Doreen met volunteer engineers and staff, including some from our valued technical partner, Ricardo PLC.

Throughout the week, Doreenโs presence reminded us of how deeply connected HoverAidโs work truly is โ from the engineers designing hovercraft in the UK, to the dedicated teams in Madagascar using them to deliver healthcare, clean water, and education where few others can reach.
โIt was a privilege to share first-hand experiences from Madagascar and to connect supporters directly with the communities we serve. Meeting so many people who are passionate, informed, and committed to HoverAidโs mission was deeply encouraging. The partnership between HoverAid Madagascar and HoverAid UK has never felt stronger. We are one team, united in purpose and heart โ working together to bring practical help and lasting hope to remote communities. What inspired me most during this visit was witnessing the dedication and faith of our supporters. It reminded me why this work matters so deeply. Partnership truly is our greatest strength โ it bridges distance, unites purpose, and multiplies impact.โ
Doreen Mutoni, Madagascar Country Director for HoverAid
Weโre deeply grateful for Doreenโs leadership, warmth, and tireless commitment โ and to everyone who made her visit so special. Her time in the UK was a powerful reminder that, though our teams are oceans apart, we share one mission: to reach the unreachable and serve those most in need.
Thank you, Doreen โ and thank you to all who continue to make HoverAidโs work possible through your support and generosity.
Following our Mobile Medical Safari (MMS) in Sahakevo, the HoverAid medical team travelled directly to Ampasinambo to provide vital healthcare to another remote community with limited access to medical services.
The first of our double-header Medical Safari missions in May brought much-needed specialist healthcare to the remote community of Sahakevo, where patients had been waiting eagerly for the team’s arrival.
