We were thrilled to welcome Doreen Mutoni, HoverAid’s Country Director in Madagascar, to the UK this month! 🇬🇧🇲🇬
Her visit was a wonderful opportunity to connect in person, share stories from the field, and celebrate the incredible impact of HoverAid’s work in Madagascar — bringing help, hope, and healing to some of the most remote communities on earth.
A week of connection and inspiration
Doreen’s visit was filled with opportunities to connect with the HoverAid family across the UK:
Sunday: A Q&A and “meet the congregation” session at All Saints Church, Little Shelford — one of our long-standing partner churches — followed by a warm afternoon tea with our Cambridge-based supporters.
Monday: An informal meeting and dinner with HoverAid Trustees, and a visit to the beautiful city of Cambridge and its colleges.
Tuesday: Meetings with the UK leadership and team, sharing updates and strengthening collaboration between our teams.
Wednesday: Our “Evening with HoverAid” supporters’ event at the IMechE Headquarters in London, where Doreen shared powerful stories from the field and gave insight into our projects in Madagascar.
Thursday: A trip to our HoverAid UK workshop in Sussex, where Doreen met volunteer engineers and staff, including some from our valued technical partner, Ricardo PLC.

Throughout the week, Doreen’s presence reminded us of how deeply connected HoverAid’s work truly is — from the engineers designing hovercraft in the UK, to the dedicated teams in Madagascar using them to deliver healthcare, clean water, and education where few others can reach.

Our latest MMS mission to Ambatolahy was a special one. It coincided with an important milestone – the Ministry of Public Health’s Partnership Directorate carried out their official monitoring and evaluation of MMS, a key step before renewing our partnership agreement for 2026.
In September 2025, HoverAid’s Medical Mission Safari team travelled to Marolambo, where they treated 671 patients through surgery, dentistry, ophthalmology, ultrasound, and consultations — including a life-saving caesarean section that ensured both mother and baby survived. The mission was marked by strong collaboration with local hospital staff and brought vital medical care to people who had travelled from far and wide.
