Emily’s Trip to Madagascar: Sept’24

Share the Post:
Emily’s journey to Madagascar was filled with challenges, unforgettable moments, and impactful experiences. From testing the River Rover 403 and hovering gracefully over lily pads in the Vortex 5 hovercraft to joining a critical medical mission in Ankavandra, Emily exemplified dedication and heart. Her story reminds us that volunteers are the lifeblood of HoverAid's work, helping us bring essential care to the most remote corners of Madagascar.

At HoverAid, we’re always thrilled to shine a spotlight on the amazing people who join our missions. Today, we’re excited to share the story of Emily, a mechanical engineering student and a dedicated volunteer from the RICARDO team, who recently spent time in Madagascar supporting our life-changing work.

Emily arrived in Madagascar armed with her engineering expertise and a willingness to make a difference. One of her primary roles was assisting with vital testing and repairs on the River Rover 403, one of our essential hovercrafts that navigate Madagascar’s challenging river systems. She also had the chance to test the Vortex 5 hovercraft, an unforgettable experience that included hovering gracefully over a lake filled with delicate lily pads – a moment she’ll never forget.

Emily’s adventure didn’t stop there. She joined HoverAid’s Mobile Medical Safari (MMS) team on a mission to Ankavandra, a remote village where medical care is scarce and highly sought after. This mission required traveling over mountains and through rugged terrain, underscoring the critical role our hovercrafts play in reaching isolated communities where conventional transport simply can’t go.

Reflecting on her journey, Emily shared:

“The experience was eye-opening. The warmth of the people, the smiling children, and the dedication of the doctors left a lasting impression on me. Madagascar is truly a beautiful country, and I’m grateful to have been part of this impactful mission.

Emily’s words capture the heart of what we do at HoverAid. We’re not just providing transportation; we’re bringing life-saving medical care to the people who need it most, no matter how remote.

Thank You, Emily!

We are incredibly grateful to Emily for her hard work and dedication. Volunteers like her are the backbone of our organisation, helping us maintain our hovercrafts and carry out crucial missions that make a lasting difference in people’s lives. Emily’s adventure in Madagascar is just one example of the impact that skilled volunteers can have when they join forces with us.

Below are just some of the Highlights from Emily’s trip.

If you’re interested in learning more about volunteering or supporting HoverAid’s missions, we’d love to hear from you. Together, we can continue to bring hope, health, and help to some of the most isolated communities in Madagascar.
