Looking back at 2025. Looking ahead to 2026

2025 has been an exciting and deeply encouraging year for HoverAid. It has been a year of growth, progress, and strengthened foundations — all driven by our commitment to reach people living in some of the most remote and underserved parts of Madagascar.

Thanks to the dedication of our teams, volunteers, partners, and supporters, we have been able to deliver life-changing care, expand our infrastructure, and prepare for an even more ambitious year ahead.

Our Impact in 2025

Over the past year, HoverAid has continued to focus on what we do best: overcoming geographical barriers to healthcare.

Through 35 weeks of medical clinics across 12 remote locations, we reached 17,500 people directly via our medical work, delivering essential treatment, tests and diagnoses — including 1,889 surgical interventions. For many patients, this was the first time they had ever received formal medical care.

Alongside clinical services, we continued our Community Health Programme along the Mangoky River, supporting 1,250 people in two villages. This work has focused on health education, clean water supply, and sanitation infrastructure — helping communities build practical, long-term improvements in health and wellbeing.

Operationally, 2025 marked a major step forward. We tested, commissioned, and deployed our new RiverRover hovercraft, alongside two truck-based mobile medical clinics, increasing both our reach and flexibility. We also completed refurbishments of our main bases in Madagascar, ensuring teams have the facilities they need to work safely and effectively.

Beyond the field, we strengthened our organisational foundations. We relocated our UK office to the Epicentre near Haverhill, launched a new integrated website, and were delighted to welcome key new colleagues — Joelson, our Deputy Director in Madagascar, and Steve, our UK Operations Officer.

We are also incredibly grateful for the support of our wider HoverAid community. In 2025, we maintained partnerships with 15 churches in the UK and USA, and were inspired by supporters who ran full and half marathons in Edinburgh, Cambridge, and Milton Keynes, raising vital funds and awareness for our work.

Looking Ahead: Our Plans for 2026

As we move into 2026, we do so with confidence and purpose. Building on the progress of the past year, we plan to reach even more remote communities and strengthen sustainable, locally-led health solutions.

Our plans for 2026 include:

  • 10 Medical Safaris and 30 weeks of Mobile Clinics scheduled across 13 locations throughout Madagascar, with the aim of reaching more people than the 17,500 supported in 2025
  • Expansion of the Community Health Programme in the Mangoky region, delivering health education, clean water supply, and sanitation infrastructure, and mobilising local teams in six villages to support good health practices and well construction and maintenance
  • Full deployment of our new hovercraft, Faith, based in Beroroha — including pilot certification, support team training, and the development of local spares and maintenance capacity
  • Launch of HoverAid’s 2026–2030 Strategy, setting out our long-term vision across UK, Netherlands, and Madagascar operations, including our hovercraft roadmap, base and facility development, and team capacity and skills
  • Development of new collaborations with partner organisations in Madagascar, enabling joint projects and wider use of HoverAid’s transport and logistics assets to support compatible missions and generate local income
  • A refreshed UK outreach programme, engaging supporters, raising awareness of our mission, and building new business and church partnerships to sustain our work into the future

Thank You for Your Support

Every journey completed, every clinic delivered, and every life reached is made possible by the collective effort of our supporters and partners.

As we look ahead to 2026, we are excited about what lies ahead — and deeply grateful to everyone who continues to stand with HoverAid as we work to bring healthcare to the hardest-to-reach.

WASH (Community Health Programme) – Mar’26

March was the busiest field month of 2026 so far for HoverAid’s Community Health and WASH Programme. Across the month, three major activities were carried out simultaneously: cyclone recovery assessments in Ambatoboeny, advance preparations in Beroroha, and visits to local partner communities in Soatana.

Together, these activities reflect the wide-ranging nature of the programme – supporting clean water, sanitation, community partnerships and resilience in some of Madagascar’s most remote areas.
